How do I edit my ethnicity?
1. Tap on your Profile icon from anywhere in the app to access the “Me” screen.
2. Once on “Me,” tap your profile photo.
3. Next, tap the pencil icon to enter edit mode.
4. Tap on “Details” and then “Ethnicity” to edit your answers.
The first question, “What’s your ethnicity?," determines your visibility in filters. So if other CMB Daters edit their Preferences for Suggested or start a Discover Search, you’ll appear if you fit their selected criteria.
The second question we ask is “What should your profile show?” and is entirely optional. This is where you can edit the ethnicity label that displays on your profile to exactly what you want. However, it won’t be used for filtering purposes.
Here's an example: Let’s say on the prior question you select “Southeast Asian” and then on this question you write in “Vietnamese.” You’ll show up when potential matches filter by “Southeast Asian,” but your profile will display only “Vietnamese.”
You can update your ethnicity selections at any time.
Why do you ask for ethnicity?
As we evolve, we continually seek feedback to ensure our platform is respectful and reflects the diverse needs and wishes of our community. Many CMB Daters value shared cultural experiences and backgrounds, so while the topic of ethnicity can be sensitive and deeply personal, we offer ethnicity preferences as one of the many ways to help daters connect meaningfully.
How do I suggest an ethnicity?
Currently we offer a list of general ethnicity terms — however, after making a selection, you can optionally write in exactly what you what shown on your profile. If there's an ethnicity you feel we should add to our list, please let us know here.
