New regional apps (for US/CA daters)

An update from CMB 💌 

At Coffee Meets Bagel, we’re all about helping serious daters find real, lasting relationships. So today we’re excited to share an important update that marks the beginning of an improved, regionally tailored user experience for our community.

Starting June 24, 2024, we’re introducing two versions of the Coffee Meets Bagel app: one specifically for our daters physically located in the United States, Canada, and other areas using +1 country codes — and another for our Worldwide community. If you're in a country with a +1 code, we’ll ask you to switch to the new CMB app tailored just for your region. Our Worldwide daters will continue their journey on the current platform.

Why are we doing this? It’s simple. We want to make sure that the app you use is the best possible fit for where you live and what you need. The new setup will help us focus on what users in each region really care about. And as a bonus, Coffee Meets Bagel will work faster and smoother than ever.

We understand that downloading a new app might seem like a hassle — but we’re committed to making it as easy as possible. All of your current information will be carried over, including profiles, likes, matches, and chats. Keep an eye out for easy-to-follow instructions and a small token of our appreciation for making the move.

Getting the new app ✨

1. Where do I download the new app?

Phone number sign-ins:

If you’re physically located in the U.S., Canada, or any other region that uses a +1 country code simply download the new local app from your App Store or Play Store here.

It’s called “Coffee Meets Bagel: Dating App” and looks like this:



Once downloaded, you can sign in as usual with your local phone number. Your profile, likes, matches, and chats will all be automatically carried over for you.

After you’ve downloaded the new app, it’s best if you delete the old one. That way you won’t accidentally open the wrong app in the future.

Facebook sign-ins:

❗If you’re a dater still using Facebook sign-in, you'll need to first open the existing CMB app, then tap "Sign in with Facebook" and follow the prompts to link your local phone number before you install the new app.

If you skip this step before downloading the new app, your data won’t be carried over and you’ll need to create a new account or contact our Support team for further help.

Once your phone number is linked, simply download the new local app from your App Store or Play Store here. It’s called “Coffee Meets Bagel: Dating App” and looks like this:




Once downloaded, you can sign in as usual with your local phone number. Your profile, likes, matches, and chats will all be automatically carried over for you.

2. Did I see somewhere there’s a “free gift”? 

Yep! Once you’ve successfully signed in to your new local app, you’ll get a secret gift. It’s our way of saying thanks for sticking with us. Okay okay, we’ll tell you what it is – it’s a “welcome back” bouquet! Five flowers will be added to your account automatically. Send them to anyone you really like to stand out and get seen instantly.

3. I’m a subscriber on an iOS device – what happens to my subscription?

Once you download the new app, you’ll continue to enjoy your same subscriber benefits. That’s it, you’re all set! There’s nothing extra you need to do on your end to transfer your subscription – it’s all taken care of for you.

4. I’m a subscriber on an Android device – what happens to my subscription?

Once you download the new app, you’ll continue to enjoy your same subscriber benefits. Just a quick heads-up for our Android daters: Your billing will still be handled through the old app, which you might recognize as “Coffee Meets Bagel Dating App” with a purple icon. Rest assured – you won't be double-charged, and there's nothing you need to do to keep enjoying your benefits on the new local app.

Likes, chats, and data 💬

5. What if I don’t download the new app?

CMB Daters on the wrong app for their region won’t be able to sign in starting August 2024. So to continue dating seamlessly, it’s best to download the new local app now. Plus – there might even be a little bonus gift waiting for you 🎁

6. What happens to my profile, likes, matches, and chats in the new app?

No worries – we’ve made this transition super easy for you! Your profile, likes, matches, and chats between regional daters will all be automatically carried over to the new app for you.

7. What happens to my data on the old app?

Any data, including likes, matches, and chats, from an account with a +1 phone number on the old Coffee Meets Bagel app will be permanently deleted in August 2024.

8. What if I’m already matched with someone in a different region?

Coffee Meets Bagel will no longer support matches between +1 country code regions and other international regions.

For example, a dater in the U.S. can stay connected and chat with someone in Canada – since both use a +1 country code. But a dater in the U.S. can no longer connect or chat with someone in Singapore.

If you’re currently chatting with someone outside your region, you’ll want to consider exchanging contact information as soon as possible. After August, 2024, your chat will no longer be accessible. 

Location and travel 🛩

9. Can I use the new app when I travel?

You can continue to refresh your location when visiting countries with a +1 code, If you travel to a country without a +1 code, you won’t be able to refresh your location to date locally. However, you can continue to connect with people from your last location.

For example, if your last location was Miami, Florida, and you travel to Seoul, South Korea, you can continue to date people in Miami. However, you won't be able to update your location to Seoul to match locally.

If you’re still interested in dating internationally – for example, if you’re traveling long-term or permanently relocating – you can follow the steps listed below to create an account on the local CMB app for your region 👇

10. I’m traveling or moving to a location without a +1 country code – how do I download that app?

If you want to continue dating people from your last location, then you’re good to go! If, however, you want to date locally, there’s a few more steps:

1. First, if you don’t already have one, you’ll need to acquire a local phone number (a number without +1 country code). To keep your account secure, VOIP numbers aren’t supported.

2. Then update your App Store region on iOS or update your Play Store region on Android to your new location.

3. Once you’re on the right Store region, you can download the Worldwide CMB app here. Look for the purple app icon.

4. You’re all set to open the new CMB app for your location and create a fresh account with your local phone number.

Just a heads up: CMB doesn’t support matching between +1 country code regions and other international areas. If you find yourself back in a previous location and want to date locally, remember to switch to the specific CMB app for that area. Just so you know, your profile, likes, matches, and chats won’t transfer between the two apps.

Moving for good? We recommend deleting the CMB app you won't be using anymore to avoid any mix-ups.

11. What if I have a +1 country code but live outside the US/CA region?

Daters with a +1 country code must be physically located in a +1 country code area (such as the United States or Canada) to use the app designed for that region.

If you live outside these areas but have a +1 phone number, you’ll need to acquire a local phone number (without a +1 country code) and follow the steps in Question 10 to download the right app for your location.

12. What if I’m in a +1 country code region (like the U.S.) but don't have a +1 phone number?

No problem! As long as you’re physically located in a +1 country code region, you can use any valid phone number to create an account and use the local app.

13. I don’t see the right app for my area in the App Store or Play Store. How do I update my Store region?

For iOS daters, find directions to update your App Store region here. Then download "Coffee Meets Bagel: Dating App" with the green icon.
