We're currently seeing a few issues with signing in:
Apple ID sign-in in the new US/Canada app isn't working
For security reasons, Apple requires that an Apple ID be linked each time a new app is installed. If you're having issues signing in with your Apple ID, try following these steps:
1. Uninstall the CMB app.
2. Then, reinstall the CMB app.
3. Sign in with the phone number you registered with your CMB account. (Please don't attempt to sign in with your Apple ID again – you're likely to experience the same issue.) Never signed up with a number? Skip to the note below.
4. Once signed in, you can re-link your Apple ID to your account. (This step is necessary because the Apple ID hasn't been linked to the new US/CA app yet. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but luckily you only need to do this once! Thank you for your patience.)
Note: If you've never signed up for CMB using your phone number, then you will need to first link your phone number to your existing account before you can sign in to the new app. Please write to us using this form and submit the phone number you want us to link to your existing CMB account.
I'm not receiving the OTP code needed to sign in to my account
First, ensure that your app is updated to the latest version available on the App Store or Google Play Store. We periodically introduce new security features and require our users to sign in using the latest version to maintain the safety of our community.
If you're having trouble receiving the verification code, using the latest app version will also allow the app to provide you with a precise error message about why you're not receiving the code. Here's a guide to understanding the potential error messages you might encounter:
Error message | What it means |
Hmm...something’s not right. Make sure you’re using a valid number, then try again. | This error pops up if your phone number is unable to receive SMS, or if it's VOIP or non-fixed. For security reasons, we don't allow sign-ups with VOIP or non-fixed numbers. It can also appear if your app version is too old. We recommend trying again with a different, fixed phone number capable of receiving SMS – or trying again with the latest app version. |
Too many attempts were made with this number. Please try again in 10 minutes. |
This message appears when too many code requests have been sent in quick succession. We have a rate limit on code requests for security reasons. Please wait at least 10 minutes before attempting to request another code.
If you still have issues after waiting for 10 minutes, give this a shot:

This number has been temporarily blocked as a security precaution. Try again in 24 hours. |
This means your phone number may have been associated with fraudulent activities and is temporarily locked. Please try again in 24 hours. If the issue persists, please fill out this form and we'll get back to you. |
The app isn’t available in your country just yet. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to create an account at this time. | We currently do not support phone number sign-ups from certain countries. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. |
How can I check if I accidentally blocked the number CMB is using to send my code?
Android daters:
- Go to Messages and tap on the three-dot menu in the top right corner.
- Tap Spam & Blocked.
- Tap on the three-dot menu, then tap Spam & Blocked to see the numbers you’re currently blocking.
- Find the message you’d like to unblock and tap Unblock.
iOS daters:
Please use Apple’s guide on blocking numbers, contacts and more to learn how you can unblock phone numbers and messages.
If you've tried all these steps and are still having problems, fill out this form and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
We know dating can be challenging, and technical issues shouldn't add to that. We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this, and we're with you every step of the way on your journey to finding meaningful connections.
I can't get an SMS code with my country code (+86)
We're aware of the situation and are working with our verification SMS provider to resolve the delivery issues impacting users' ability to receive the SMS code. This issue is affecting both existing users and new user sign-ups. In the meantime, we recommend using a non-China telephone country code (+86) number. Please let us know if you have an alternative number, and our team will help you soon.
In the meantime, here are some steps you can try:
-
Try different networks: If you're using the iOS app, launch it on a different network, wifi, or cellular. Sometimes, switching networks can help establish a successful connection.
-
Update to the latest app version: Ensure your app is updated to the latest version available on the App Store or Google Play Store. Having the newest version installed can often resolve connectivity issues.
-
VPN considerations: If you're using a VPN, please note that not all VPNs work reliably in China. The current consensus for working VPNs is Astrill VPN, Mullvad VPN, and LetsVPN.
Note: ExpressVPN, NordVPN, PrivateInternetAccess (PIA), and Surfshark may only sometimes work in China & CMB regardless of their advertising or support.
