Coffee Meets Bagel is a safe space where our members can be vulnerable and find authentic connections. To protect our community’s safety and privacy, we ask everyone to follow these guidelines and our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Daters who don’t adhere to these guidelines could be permanently banned.
Respect all CMB Daters
We welcome everyone to our diverse CMB Community, where daters may have different backgrounds, beliefs, and interests, but should always feel safe to be who they are. Remember to be respectful, honest, and kind. This includes being open, communicative, and showing up when you say that you will. (No ghosting!)
We have a zero-tolerance policy regarding abusive behavior and hate speech towards members and CMB employees. If you encounter a member not following these guidelines, we ask that you report them as soon as possible.
Abusive behavior includes bullying, harassment, sending unsolicited sexual content, stalking, threats, and intimidation.
Hate speech includes any content that condones racism, bigotry, hatred, or violence against others based on their religion, gender, or other factors.
Photo guidelines
- At least one photo should show your face and it must be clearly visible. Plus, the more photos you have with yourself in them, the more success you might have. (A warm smile is a bonus!) Profiles without any photos showing your face will not be approved.
- Only photos that you own the rights to; if it’s not yours, don’t use it
- No pornographic images
- No guns
- No illegal activities like drug use or abusive behavior
- No children on their own; they must be accompanied by an adult and fully clothed in the photo
- No nudity or photos in your underwear
- No graphic or gory images like hunting photos
- No personal information like phone numbers, emails, and addresses
If you do not follow the photo guidelines, your account will not be approved.
Be yourself
Daters want to see the real you, so don’t pretend you’re someone you’re not. Be honest with your profile details and only use pictures that you own. Don’t create fake or multiple accounts, continuously delete and create accounts, impersonate others, or misrepresent your connection with someone.
Don’t create fake or multiple accounts, continuously delete and create accounts, impersonate others, use trademarked names (e.g. fictional characters), lie about your age, or misrepresent your connection with someone. (If you mistype your age when setting up your profile, we can change it for you just once.)
If you’re using the platform while in a relationship (particularly without your partner’s consent and knowledge), you will be banned.
Be on your best behavior
You should behave the same way on a video or online chat as you would in real life. If you wouldn’t say something to a friend or colleague in person, don’t say it to someone on CMB. Everyone should be treated with respect, so no unsolicited sexual content, hate speech, or abusive behavior.
We encourage you to take the time to learn more about your bagels, and send thoughtful and appropriate messages. Instead of re-using the same opener, try sending a relevant and unique message – it’ll make for a more genuine conversation!
Your privacy is our priority
It’s against our guidelines to share any private information, whether it’s yours or someone else’s. This is for your own protection as scammers or inappropriate members may use your information against you. This includes passwords, financial accounts, passports, and social security numbers.
CMB is for dating, not soliciting
If you’re looking to sell or promote something, you’re on the wrong app. CMB was designed to help people find long-term relationships, not for selling goods or services. Don’t try to get money, gifts, or other items from members by sharing your private or financial information. This includes Amazon wish lists, PayPal, and Venmo.
If you’re using the platform for any reason other than dating, you will be permanently banned.
If it’s not legal, it’s not okay
CMB does not tolerate any illegal activity. This includes illegal sexual acts, drug use/dealing, fraud, threats, and abusive behavior.
Don’t falsely report bagels
We understand that not every bagel may be your type. However, please don’t report someone just because you don’t think they’re a good match for you. Instead, we suggest you Hide and Unmatch them.
Don’t spam or scam
We do not tolerate community members who use the platform to spam or scam others. This includes soliciting private information for fraudulent illegal activity and linking to other websites on your profile.
Don’t share explicit, vulgar, graphic, or violent content
Sharing inappropriate content without consent is harassment. If you wouldn’t share it publicly, you shouldn’t share it at all.
This includes sexually explicit or offensive images, unwanted and inappropriate messages to community members, and images of self-harm.
